Ingredients

Instructions

  • First you make your homemade rice krispie treats. Melt butter in a large saucepan on medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until melted. Remove from the heat and stir the cereal into the marshmallow mixture until well coated.
  • Spoon rice krispie mixture into buttered 9x13 pan (or you can spray with non-stick cooking spray). Use the back of a measuring cup (greased) to smooth top. Let harden (about 45 minutes) and cut into rectangles with a large sharp knife on a clean cutting board.
  • Melt chocolate chips following the instructions on the package and then spoon into a disposable pastry bag. Cut a small hole in the corner of bag to make antlers. Use a small amount of melted chocolate under the candy eyes and red m&m nose to attach to the rice krispie treat.
  • Carefully push a popsicle stick into the top of each treat (above the antlers). Make sure to use popsicle sticks that are made for food use and not crafts.

Notes

How do I store my treats? If you are not serving your Rudolph reindeers right away, you'lll need to store them so that they don't not get stale. Store them in an airtight container. They should last for 5-7 days this way.
Can I freeze them? Yes, you can freeze Rice Krispie Treats. In fact, it is a great way to extend the shelf life of these treats. You can simply store them in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to one month. If you're going to freeze them, do NOT do the decorations. The chocolate and candies won't do well in the freezer, so don't freeze the decorated treats.
