Grandma's Best Ever Banana Bread is my mother-in-law's famous recipe that's everything you want in a banana bread: moist, tender, delicious and slathered with a luscious cream cheese frosting.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 9"x5" loaf pan. Set aside.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Stir to combine.
Whisk flour, baking soda and salt together. Add to butter mixture along with sour cream, bananas, and vanilla. Stir together until completely combined. Fold in nuts.Note: If you want to make this a gluten free recipe, it works beautifully just by substituting the same amount of gluten free flour instead of the all purpose flour and adding ½ teaspoon xanthan gum. I used my homemade gluten free flour blend recipe from my blog.
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Let cool.
For the frosting
Mix together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Frost cooled banana bread. Slice and serve.
