After 12 years as a food blogger, I finally attended my very first food blogger conference — and let me tell you, the Flavor Media Summit in Savannah was the perfect place to start.

A Food Blogger Event Venue Full of Charm
The event took place in a charming brick building (built in the late 1800s!) nestled in Savannah’s historic district — just steps from the famous Pirate’s House restaurant. It felt extra special for me because, believe it or not, I actually ate at the Pirate’s House as a kid with my grandparents. (Some things really do come full circle — like she crab soup and life lessons.)
Savannah itself was absolutely stunning — those giant, moss-draped trees and beautiful old city squares popping up every few blocks made it feel like walking through a movie set. Honestly, you could trip over history just getting a coffee.
What We Learned at the Food Blogger Conference
The conference brought together over 50 food bloggers from across the country for two inspiring days of learning and connection. Topics included:
Growing your email list with Liz Wilcox
Boosting blog traffic with SEO with Ty Kilgore
Driving social media engagement
Self-publishing cookbooks
Using tools like Grocer’s List to automate recipe sharing
A Shout-Out to Grocer’s List
Ben Jabawwy, the founder of Grocer’s List, was there too — such a genuinely friendly, down-to-earth guy. It's always cool when the people behind the tech are as awesome as the tools themselves.
We also had sessions on growing Instagram and self-publishing cookbooks — basically a firehose of amazing information that made my to-do list about twelve miles long (in a good way).
The Food at the Food Blogger Conference
The food was just as impressive — lots of thoughtful vegan and gluten-free options, which was such a treat for someone like me. Plus, the whole thing was hosted so seamlessly by Megan Porta and Melissa Erdelac, who deserve a standing ovation (and probably a long nap) for pulling off such a fantastic food blogger event.
Dinner at The Olde Pink House
One of my favorite memories was having dinner with my husband at The Olde Pink House — a historic (and slightly spooky) restaurant built in 1771, just a block from our hotel.
Thanks to a tip from fellow food blogger Giangi Townsend, I ordered the she crab soup — and let’s just say it lived up to the hype! I also had the house salad with fried green tomatoes and candied bacon. Meanwhile, Jay ordered the seafood fettuccine, which was rich enough to qualify as its own zip code.
We half-joked the place could be haunted — especially when a painting of a grim-looking soldier seemed to stare directly into our souls while we ate. Good soup though, ghost or no ghost.
What’s Next: A Food Blogger Retreat in Colorado
Coming back from the Savannah blogger event, my heart (and my camera roll) was full — but more than anything, I realized how important it is to connect with fellow food bloggers in real life. It reminded me why I’m so passionate about building spaces for real conversations, new friendships, and honest sharing about our blogging journeys. So I planned my own food blogger retreat.
You’re Invited to Colorado!
It’s happening September 11–14, tucked away in a beautiful retreat house with mountain views — a cozy, small-group setting for learning, networking, and recharging.
There are only 14 spots available to keep the experience personal and meaningful.
If you're looking to level up your blog, make lasting connections, and swap stories over s'mores (yes, there will be s'mores!), I would absolutely love to have you join us.

Here’s to more good food, great friends, and ghost-free dinners. Hope to see you there!
