How's your Summer going so far? My kids are having a lot of fun, but we are definitely feeling the heat at my house! The hot and steamy weather makes me crave something cool and refreshing to drink. This Florida Watermelon Fizz really hits the spot! It's made with juicy, ripe Florida watermelon, plus fresh lemon, honey and sparkling water. Served over ice with a fresh mint leaf, it's like Summer in a glass!
I've partnered with Fresh From Florida to bring you this awesome recipe from their website. Fresh From Florida and the Florida Department of Agriculture promotes locally grown Florida produce and fresh seafood. Watermelon is just one of the fresh commodities available from Florida this season. Don't miss out on these great items too: blueberries, tomatoes, sweet corn and seafood.
Making this tasty drink is so easy to make. Start by chopping up 5 cups of fresh watermelon. Add to a blender along with the juice of one lemon. Pour in a bit of honey and blend until smooth. Taste it to see if it's sweet enough. If not, add more honey.
Pour into a strainer.
Let the strained watermelon mixture drain into a medium sized bowl.
Divide watermelon juice equally into four glasses filled with ice. Pour sparkling water over the juice until glass is filled.
Add fresh mint leaves and you're ready to enjoy a nice tall glass of Florida Watermelon Fizz. Perfect for an outdoor celebration or Summer barbecue. Your guests will love this delicious beverage!
