Easy Pinwheel Appetizers

Summertime is in full swing and my kids have been hungry. A lot! They also have the tendency to grab sweet treats or chips, and I'd rather them eat something with protein. That's why I love these Easy Pinwheel Appetizers. They're simple to make and packed with protein.

There are only 2 ingredients! I used HORMEL® REV® Wraps and cream cheese to make these delicious, teen friendly snacks. HORMEL® REV® Wraps are filled with real meat and cheeses with at least 12 grams of protein per wrap, so they are a great alternative to empty calorie snacks and are perfect for immediate, on-the-go consumption. I simply unwrapped each HORMEL® REV® Wrap, added cream cheese, rolled them back up and sliced into pinwheels. Easy peazy!

I love that there's lots of protein in every bite! In fact, I've recently learned about some new benefits of incorporating more protein in your diet. Especially for my growing teenager. According to Jennifer Lintz, RD, LD, “Protein is responsible for more than we may realize. While it often gets credit for helping during periods of growth—childhood, adolescence, and pregnancy—it also plays key roles in metabolism, immune function, and tissue repair. It is found in every cell of the human body, so it is in our best interest to consume protein on a daily basis.” Isn't that interesting? As a mom of a growing teenage girl and an almost 10 year-old boy, I know how important it is for them to eat foods that will give them energy and good nutrition.

So let's talk about how to make these Easy Pinwheel Appetizers. Start with HORMEL® REV® Wraps. These are the flavors I chose, but you can pick your favorite. To make the pinwheels, unwrap the HORMEL® REV® Wraps. Set aside meat and cheese. Spread softened cream cheese onto wrap.

Place the cheese and meat on top, then roll it up tightly.

Slice into ¾-inch wide pieces. Insert a toothpick into the top of each section to hold everything in place. And you're done!
