Homemade Healthy Gummy Bears is a recipe post by contributing author, Kathryn Beal.
Hey y'all! This is Kathryn, Lise's sister. I haven't posted in a while because my toddler has been keeping me busy, but I wanted to share something I've been enjoying lately: Homemade Healthy Gummy Bears!
The Perfect Snack
My husband and I love these, especially as a late afternoon snack. My hubby really appreciates when I pack them in his lunch box. They are a great alternative for dessert when you are trying to cut back on refined sugar. The crucial ingredient that makes them so healthy is grass-fed gelatin.
Why Grass-Fed Gelatin
Grass-fed gelatin is so good for you! It’s a superfood that is great for your gut, bones, and brain. It helps to regulate your blood sugar so you can avoid that late afternoon hangry, and, my favorite thing of all, it makes your skin glow. Other sources of gelatin are bone broth and collagen powder.
I learned about all the health benefits of gelatin in this great cookbook: The Gelatin Secret. I highly recommend it.
It’s tough to find ways to incorporate gelatin into your diet, though, especially in the spring and summer when it’s too hot to make bone broth. Enter homemade gummy bears!
Eat This, Not That
Store bought gummies have virtually zero nutritional value, but these Homemade Healthy Gummy Bears are delicious, good for you and even give you glowing skin.
The day after I eat these, my skin looks luminous. My husband loves them too. When he starts to feel burned out in the afternoon, these gummies give him such a great boost.
Option: Make Them In Squares
You can use fun gummy molds like the ones I use, but if you don't have molds, don't let that stop you! You can pour the mixture on a cookie sheet and cut them into little squares. Just as yummy!
Hope you enjoy these Homemade Healthy Gummy Bears, guilt-free candy!

Homemade Healthy Gummy Bears {Paleo Friendly}
Ingredients
- 1 cup pomegranate juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 4 tablespoons grass-fed gelatin
Instructions
- First thing, measure out your gelatin and set aside. (You have to pour the gelatin in very slowly and whisk constantly. You don’t want to be measuring while you’re trying to whisk.)
- Next, put the juice and honey in a small saucepan and heat to steaming but not boiling.
- Take the already measured out gelatin and slowly incorporate half a teaspoon at a time. Whisk continuously. (If you get clumps, throw the mixture in the blender, but don’t let it get too cool or it will start to gel.)
- Remove from heat and start filling your gummy molds with the dropper. If you don’t have gummy molds, pour the mixture into a cookie sheet or small pan.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 20 minutes, or until completely firm.
- Carefully remove from gummy molds or, if using a cookie sheet, cut into squares.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. (If you can resist eating them for that long!)
