What you need

Ingredient notes

Chocolate Chips – I used Hershey’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips for this recipe just because they’re easy to find in almost any grocery store in the U.S.

Sweetened Condensed Milk – Make sure you get sweetened condensed milk and NOT evaporated milk. They’re completely different.

Butter – Use unsalted butter, softened or room temperature.

Chopped Nuts – The nuts are optional. If you like nuts, add your favorite. I think walnuts would be delicious. You could also use pecans or peanuts.

How to make this perfect fudge

Four steps to making quick easy fudge.
  1. In heavy medium saucepan, over medium heat, melt semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter.
  2. Add sweetened condensed milk and salt. Stir until smooth. Do not overheat. Remove from heat as soon as it’s melted. Stir in vanilla extract (and nuts, if using).
  3. Spread evenly into parchment paper lined 9-inch square pan or loaf pan. You can also line the pan with aluminum foil. Chill 3 hours or until firm.
  4. Turn fudge onto cutting board; peel off paper and cut into squares. Store tightly covered at room temperature or in refrigerator.

Expert Tips

• Make it in a loaf pan if you like thicker cubes of fudge.

• If you prefer a thinner slice, use a 9″ x 9″ square baking pan.

• To make it easier to remove the fudge when it’s done, make sure to line the bottom of your pan with parchment paper.

• You can easily make this particular recipe into Rocky Road Fudge by adding chopped walnuts and mini marshmallows.

• If you’re a fan of dark chocolate, you can substitute dark chocolate chips instead of semisweet chocolate chips.
